1. About this policy
This policy explains how you can delete your RiseDare account and the personal data linked to it. RiseDare is operated by (to be added), (to be added) (referred to as RiseDare, we, us or our). We are the Data Fiduciary for your personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023.
You have the right to have your personal data erased. You do not have to give a reason, you do not have to pay anything, and you do not need to have the app installed to use this right. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes what we collect and why.
2. Your choices at a glance
- Delete your whole account in the app: Settings > Account > Delete account.
- Delete your whole account without the app: visit risedare.com/delete-account, or send an e-mail as described below.
- Delete only some of your data and keep your account: see the section on partial deletion.
- Stop using a feature without deleting anything: turn the feature off in Settings, or withdraw the device permission it depends on.
- Uninstalling the app is not the same as deleting your account. Uninstalling removes data stored on your phone but your account stays on our servers until you delete it.
3. Before you delete
Account deletion is permanent. Once it is complete we cannot restore your streaks, badges, statistics, group memberships or chat history, even if you sign up again with the same e-mail address or phone number.
Please check the following first.
- Cancel any active subscription. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel it in the store first, otherwise the store will keep charging you.
- If you subscribed on risedare.com, cancel in Account > Billing on the website or revoke the UPI AutoPay or card mandate from your UPI app or bank.
- Turn off Hardcore Mode and check that no charge or appeal is still pending.
- If you are the organiser of a Family plan or the owner of a group, read the sections below on what happens to the other members.
- Save anything you want to keep, such as your statistics. You may ask us for a copy of your personal data before you delete; write to [email protected].
4. How to delete your account in the app
This is the fastest route. It works the same way on iOS and Android.
- Step 1: Open RiseDare and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Step 2: Go to Settings > Account > Delete account.
- Step 3: Read the summary of what will be erased and what we are required to keep.
- Step 4: Confirm with your password or the one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered e-mail address or phone number. This step protects you from someone else deleting your account.
- Step 5: Your account is deleted immediately. You are signed out, your profile disappears from any groups you were in, and your scheduled alarms stop being synced.
- Step 6: Uninstall the app to remove data that is stored only on your device, such as sleep audio clips and locally saved alarm sounds.
5. How to delete your account without the app
If you no longer have the app, have lost your phone, or cannot sign in, you can still delete your account.
- Web: visit risedare.com/delete-account and follow the steps. You will be asked to prove that the account is yours, normally with an OTP sent to your registered e-mail address or phone number.
- E-mail: write to [email protected] from your registered e-mail address with the subject line Delete my account. You do not need to add anything else, but telling us the phone number or e-mail on the account helps us find it.
- We confirm a web or e-mail request within 72 hours.
- If you write from an address that is not registered on the account, we will ask for a simple check to confirm that you are the account holder before we delete anything. We ask only for what is needed to verify you, and we do not delete an account on the strength of an unverified request.
6. What is deleted
When your account is deleted we erase the personal data we hold about you on our servers, except the limited records listed in the next section. This includes:
- Your profile: name, e-mail address or phone number, avatar, language and time zone.
- Your alarms, the missions you chose, completion times, streaks, badges and statistics.
- Your group memberships, nudges and reactions, and your place on group boards and leaderboards.
- Your Chuzi AI chat history and any AI personalisation or memory built from it.
- Sleep data that was synced to our servers.
- Your settings, notification preferences and marketing consents.
- Identifiers we use to send push notifications to your devices.
7. Data that lives only on your device
Some data never reaches our servers, so we cannot delete it for you. Mission photos are checked on your device and are not uploaded unless you choose to share them. Pose detection for push-ups and squats runs on your device. Sleep audio, including snoring clips, is stored on your device.
To remove this data, uninstall the app, or clear the app's storage from your phone's settings. If you saved or shared a photo to your gallery or to another app, delete it there as well; we have no control over copies held outside RiseDare.
8. What we keep, and why
The law does not allow us to erase everything. We keep only the following, and we do not use it for any purpose other than the one stated.
- Payment and invoice records: kept for 8 years, as required by Indian tax law. These contain the transaction ID, amount, date, plan and the billing details on the invoice. We never hold your full card number or UPI PIN.
- Hardcore Mode transaction logs: kept for 8 years, for the same tax and accounting reasons and so that disputed charges and donations can be accounted for.
- Anonymised, aggregated statistics that cannot identify you, for example the total number of alarms completed in a month.
- Records of your deletion request and of complaints you raised, kept for as long as needed to show that we acted on them.
- Information we are legally required to preserve because of a court order, a lawful request from an authority, or an ongoing dispute or investigation of fraud or abuse. We keep it only until that requirement ends.
9. Timelines
- In-app deletion: your account is deleted immediately after you confirm.
- Web or e-mail request: we confirm within 72 hours.
- Remaining data and backups: other data is erased within 30 days of deletion, and backups are purged within 30 days.
- Tax and transaction records: 8 years, after which they are erased.
- During the backup period your data is not used for anything and is not restored to a live system, except where a backup must be restored to recover from a failure. In that case the deletion is applied again.
10. Deleting only part of your data
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove particular data. Where a control exists in the app, use it; for anything else, write to [email protected] from your registered e-mail address and tell us exactly what you want erased.
- Sleep data: turn off sleep tracking to stop collection. Sleep audio stays on your device and can be removed there. To erase sleep data synced to our servers while keeping your account, send us a request.
- Chuzi AI: turn off AI features or clear Chuzi's memory in Settings > Chuzi AI.
- Groups: leave a group at any time. Your name, avatar and wake-up status stop being shown to its members.
- Steps and health data: disconnect RiseDare in Health Connect or Apple Health. We stop reading new data straight away.
- Location, camera, microphone and contacts: withdraw the permission in your phone's settings. See App Permissions & Data Safety.
- Marketing: unsubscribe using the link in any e-mail, or ask us to stop.
- Profile details: edit or remove them in Settings > Account.
11. Subscriptions and purchases
Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Apple and Google bill you directly and we cannot cancel on your behalf. Cancel in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on iOS, or Google Play > Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions on Android, before you delete.
For plans bought on risedare.com, cancel in Account > Billing or revoke the mandate from your UPI app. Deleting your account ends your access to Pro features, including any time left in the current paid period and any Lifetime purchase. Deletion does not by itself entitle you to a refund; refunds are decided under our Refund & Cancellation Policy. If you believe a refund is due, request it before you delete, because we need an active account to verify the order.
12. Family plans
If you are a member of a Family plan, deleting your account removes you from the plan and frees your place. The organiser and the other members are not affected.
If you are the organiser, deleting your account ends the Family plan for everyone on it. Members keep their own accounts and data but lose the Pro access that came from your plan. Please tell them first.
13. Groups, buddies and challenges
- Your name, avatar, wake-up status, nudges and reactions are removed from every group you belong to.
- Group totals, group streaks and past leaderboard results that other members rely on may continue to exist in a form that no longer shows your name or identifies you.
- A Buddy mode pairing ends. Your buddy is told that the pairing has ended, not why.
- If you created a group, deleting your account does not delete the other members' accounts or data. Where a group needs an owner, ownership passes to another member or the group is closed.
- Content you sent that other members have already seen, saved or screenshotted on their own devices is outside our control.
14. Hardcore Mode
Turn Hardcore Mode off before you delete your account. Deleting your account does not cancel a charge for a miss that was confirmed before deletion, and it does not reverse an amount already donated to a cause.
If you have an appeal in progress, wait for the result before deleting; once your account is erased we may not be able to verify the appeal or return the money to you. Revoke your UPI AutoPay or card mandate from your UPI app or bank so that no authority to debit remains. Hardcore Mode transaction logs are kept for 8 years as explained above.
15. Rewards, referral credits and other balances
Streak rewards, partner coupons, free months earned through referrals, streak freezes, grace passes and any similar balance held in your account are personal to that account and have no cash value. They are lost when the account is deleted and cannot be moved to another account. Use anything you want to use before you delete.
16. Signing up again
You are welcome to create a new account later. It will start empty. Previous streaks, badges, purchases and trial eligibility are not carried over, and the free trial is limited to one per person, device and payment method as set out in the Subscription & Auto-Renewal Terms.
17. Children and requests made for someone else
A parent or lawful guardian may ask us to delete the account and data of a child under 18. We will take reasonable steps to confirm the relationship before acting. See Children's Privacy.
A person you have nominated under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 may exercise your rights if you die or become unable to act. We will ask for proof of the nomination or of their authority.
18. Help and complaints
If a deletion did not work, or you want to know whether it has been completed, write to [email protected] or [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with our answer, contact our Grievance Officer, (to be added), at [email protected]; the process and timelines are in Grievance Redressal & Contact. You may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India. Users in the European Union or United Kingdom may contact their local data protection authority.
