Community Guidelines

The rules for groups, names, avatars, nudges, reactions, leaderboards and challenges in RiseDare: roast gently, hype loudly, play fair. Also how to report a problem, what we do about it and how to appeal.

1. Why these guidelines exist

RiseDare groups work because friends hold each other to their mornings. A live board shows who is up, a nudge reaches the one who is not, and a little teasing keeps it fun. That only works when everyone feels safe and the results are honest.

These guidelines apply to everyone who uses the social features of RiseDare, which is operated by (to be added). They form part of the Terms of Service. By joining or creating a group you agree to follow them.

2. Where they apply

  • Groups, the live board, group streaks and leaderboards.
  • Your display name, avatar and any profile details others can see.
  • Group names and group pictures.
  • Messages, nudges and reactions.
  • Custom dares that you write or generate and share with others.
  • Challenges such as the Early Bird Challenge, and Buddy mode.
  • Invitations and referral links you send to other people.
  • What you type to Chuzi, the AI coach, including requests for group roasts and hype.

3. What other members can see about you

When you join a group, its members can see your name, your avatar and your wake-up status, including your wake times on the live board and your position on the group leaderboard. They can send you nudges and reactions. They cannot see your alarms list, your sleep data, your Chuzi chats or your payment details.

Join a group only if you are comfortable with its members seeing this. You can leave a group at any time and your details stop being shown to it.

4. Be kind

Group roasts are playful, and they are meant to be aimed at the lie-in, not the person. Tease someone about the snooze button. Do not make fun of someone's body, health, religion, caste, gender or sexuality.

The following are not allowed anywhere in RiseDare.

  • Bullying, intimidation or ganging up on a member.
  • Slurs and hateful content about a person's religion, caste, race, ethnicity, nationality, region, language, gender, sexuality, disability, age or appearance.
  • Threats of violence or of harm to a person, their family or their property.
  • Encouraging self-harm, or mocking someone's mental or physical health.
  • Shaming a member for missing an alarm in a way that is plainly meant to humiliate rather than motivate.
  • Continuing to roast someone who has asked you to stop.

5. Harassment and unwanted contact

  • Do not use nudges, reactions or messages to pester someone. A nudge is a friendly push, not a way to flood a person's phone.
  • Do not contact someone again through a new account or a new group after they have removed, blocked or reported you.
  • No sexual advances, sexual remarks or requests for personal photographs.
  • No stalking, including using wake times or activity to monitor where someone is or what they are doing.
  • Do not pressure anyone to join a group, turn on Hardcore Mode, raise a stake or attempt a physical dare they are not able to do.
  • Buddy mode is by mutual agreement. Either buddy may end it at any time without giving a reason.

6. Names, avatars and group pictures

  • Use a name you are known by. A nickname is fine; pretending to be another real person, a public figure, a brand or RiseDare staff is not.
  • No obscene, hateful, threatening or sexually explicit words or images in display names, group names, avatars or group pictures.
  • Use only pictures you have the right to use. Do not use someone else's photograph as your avatar without their permission.
  • No names or pictures that advertise a product, a service, a channel or a link.
  • Users under 18 should avoid using a full name or a clear photograph of their face.
  • We may reset a name or remove a picture that breaks these rules.

7. Keep it clean

No sexual content, violence, spam or scams in group names, avatars, messages or custom dares. In particular:

  • No nudity, pornography or sexual content of any kind, and nothing that sexualises a minor in any way. Content that sexually exploits children is reported to the authorities as the law requires.
  • No graphic violence or content that glorifies violence, terrorism or organised crime.
  • No content that is unlawful in India, including content that threatens the unity, security or sovereignty of India or public order, or that is defamatory or infringes someone's intellectual property.
  • No spam, chain messages, repeated promotions, phishing, fake offers, or requests for money, OTPs, passwords or UPI details.
  • No promotion of gambling, illegal drugs, weapons or other regulated goods.
  • No deliberate misinformation that could cause harm.

8. Respect privacy

  • Do not share other people's photos or personal details without consent.
  • Do not post another person's phone number, address, workplace, school, identity numbers or financial details.
  • Do not share a screenshot of a group board, a member's wake times or a private message outside the group in order to embarrass someone.
  • If you share a mission photo, make sure nobody else is recognisable in it unless they have agreed.
  • Do not use any information you learn about a member through RiseDare for a purpose unrelated to the group.

9. Play fair: no cheating or fake completions

Streaks, leaderboards and challenges mean something only if the dares were really done. The following count as cheating.

  • Tricking a mission check, for example photographing a picture or a screen instead of the real sky, bed or object, or using a recording in place of your own voice or movement.
  • Getting another person to complete your dare for you.
  • Changing the device clock or time zone, force-closing or uninstalling the app, or using modified versions of the app, emulators, automation tools or scripts to dismiss an alarm or record a completion.
  • Creating more than one account, or fake accounts, to climb a leaderboard, win a challenge, fill a group or collect referral rewards.
  • Agreeing with others to fix a challenge result.
  • Exploiting a bug instead of reporting it. If you find one, tell us at [email protected].

10. What happens to cheated results

Where we find cheating, we may remove the affected completions, reset streaks, withdraw badges, remove the account from leaderboards and challenges, and cancel rewards or referral benefits earned that way. In Hardcore Mode, dismissing an alarm by force-closing, uninstalling or changing the device time is treated as a miss under the Hardcore Mode Terms.

11. Custom dares and safety

  • Do not create or share a dare that is dangerous, humiliating, sexual or unlawful, or that involves alcohol, drugs, or risk to the person or to anyone else.
  • Do not set a dare that has to be done in an unsafe place such as a road, a height or near water.
  • Fitness dares are for people who are physically able to do them. Never pressure a member who is injured, unwell or pregnant; the backup mission exists for that reason.
  • Do not use the AI Dare Generator or Chuzi to produce content that breaks these guidelines. Roasts and hype generated by Chuzi at your request are your responsibility when you share them with a group.

12. Group owners and admins

If you create or manage a group, you set its tone. You are expected to invite only people who want to be there, to remove members who break these guidelines, to choose a group name and picture that follow them, and to report serious problems to us instead of handling them alone. Owners and admins must not use their position to bully or exclude members unfairly. We may remove an owner's or admin's role, or close a group, where a group is run in breach of these guidelines.

13. Younger members

Users aged 13 to 17 can use groups only by invitation. Adults must not attempt to contact minors they do not know, ask a minor for personal details or photographs, or move a conversation with a minor to another platform. Any conduct that endangers a child leads to immediate removal and may be reported to the authorities. See Children's Privacy.

14. Reporting a problem

If you see something that breaks these guidelines, report it. Reports are confidential; we do not tell the reported person who made the report.

  • In the app: long-press any message or member and choose Report.
  • By e-mail: write to [email protected] with the group name, the member's display name, what happened and when, and a screenshot if you have one.
  • For a formal complaint, or if the content concerns you personally and you want it removed, write to our Grievance Officer at [email protected]. See Grievance Redressal & Contact.
  • We review reports within 24 hours and may remove content or suspend accounts.
  • If someone is in immediate danger, contact the police or local emergency services first.
  • Do not make false or malicious reports. Repeated abuse of the reporting tool is itself a breach of these guidelines.

15. What we do about it: the enforcement ladder

We look at what happened, how serious it was, whether it was deliberate and whether it has happened before. We aim to use the lightest step that solves the problem, and we generally move up one step at a time. For a serious breach we may skip straight to a higher step.

  • Step 1, reminder: we point out the rule and ask you to stop.
  • Step 2, content removal: we remove the message, name, picture or dare, or reset it to a default.
  • Step 3, formal warning: a recorded warning on the account.
  • Step 4, feature restriction: temporary loss of particular features, such as nudges, messages, group creation, leaderboards or challenges.
  • Step 5, temporary suspension: the account cannot use social features, or cannot be used at all, for a limited time.
  • Step 6, removal from or closure of a group.
  • Step 7, permanent ban: the account is closed and you may not open another.
  • Threats of violence, sexual content involving minors, sexual harassment, serious hate speech, fraud and scams lead to immediate suspension or a permanent ban without earlier steps. Where the law requires or permits it, we report such conduct to the authorities and preserve the related records.

16. Effect on paid plans

A restriction or suspension under these guidelines normally affects social features only; your alarms keep working so that you are not left without a wake-up call. Where an account is permanently banned for a serious breach, access to paid features ends with it. Whether any refund is due is decided under the Refund & Cancellation Policy and the consumer law that applies to you.

17. Appeals

If you think we got a decision wrong, you can ask for it to be reviewed. Write to [email protected] from your registered e-mail address, tell us which decision you are appealing and why, and add anything that supports your case. The appeal is looked at afresh by someone who did not take the original decision wherever that is practicable.

If the appeal succeeds, we restore the content or account and anything removed with it, as far as that is technically possible. If you remain dissatisfied, you may take the matter to our Grievance Officer, (to be added), at [email protected], whose timelines are set out in Grievance Redressal & Contact. Appeals against Hardcore Mode charges follow the separate process in the Hardcore Mode Terms.

18. Our role and changes to these guidelines

Content in groups is created by users, not by RiseDare. We do not review everything before it appears, but we act on reports and on what our own checks find, in line with the Information Technology Act 2000 and the Intermediary Guidelines Rules 2021.

We may update these guidelines as the community grows. We will tell you in the app or by e-mail before a material change takes effect.
